Asafoetida Powder

Asafoetida (Ferula asafoetida) is the dried sap, also known as gum resin, extracted from Ferula plant roots. It is frequently dried, pounded into a yellow, coarse powder, and used in cooking or medicine. Asafoetida, also known as hing, is a common ingredient in Indian cuisine, despite being native to Afghanistan and Iran. Because asafoetida contains a high concentration of sulfur compounds, it has a strong, pungent flavor when used as a seasoning.
