Chicory Root, also known as Cicorium intybus, is a highly beneficial organic herb used for both its therapeutic and nutritional properties. The leaves and raw, ground root can be utilized for medicinal purposes and in cooking as a spice, adding flavor to dishes and serving as a substitute for coffee. In fact, Chicory Root was once renowned for its use in New Orleans coffee.
When utilized for medicinal purposes, dried and milled Chicory Root serves as an herbal remedy.
Chicory root, a versatile and safe organic bulk herb, can enhance the flavor of dishes when used in cooking or added to salads. As determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, it is a "Generally Recognized as Safe" bulk herb for consumption, but consulting a healthcare professional is recommended before beginning any herbal regimen.
